Spring has arrived in Brisbane, and our studio is overflowing with colour. Every morning when we walk in, the smell hits you first — sweet pea, jasmine, and fresh-cut stock. It is the best time of year to be a florist.
This season we are seeing an abundance of ranunculus in every shade imaginable. These little roses-on-steroids are a florist favourite because they last up to two weeks in a vase and the petals just keep unfurling.
We are also loving the early peonies coming through from the Granite Belt growers. Normally peonies are a November flower, but a few growers are experimenting with earlier varieties and the results are stunning.
Tulips are always a spring staple, but this year we are seeing some incredible parrot tulip varieties with fringed, ruffled petals. They are wild and a bit chaotic — exactly what a spring bouquet should be.
